Brad's been planning this for a long while. Some things just take time.
A lead guitarist for many years on both the East and West coasts, Brad learned his craft alongside performers ranging from great New England singer-songwriters to Elvis impersonators, from honky-tonk angels to barroom legends. A graduate of both MIT (Electrical Engineering) and Telecaster U (Twangology), his odd mix of unshakable proclivities, lively obsessions and generally bad habits have made his career path anything but predictable.
Initially over stimulated by Leo Kottke records while in high school, Brad decided to figure out how to do that stuff, and he did. College brought more influences, and soon he was working out the styles of Mark Knopfler, Jerry Garcia and James Burton in clubs 6 nights a week while doing homework on the breaks. The obsession with music blended with engineering studies, resulting in a prize-winning project that would "improvise" blues for years on end. It remained in the lobby of the Artificial Intelligence labs while Brad headed back West, settling in Portland, Oregon and starting a family.
Brad continued playing music in Portland, working with Marv and Rindy Ross in The Trail Band, Maureen Andrews, Donna Jose and most recently chamber-pop group Caravan Gogh.
Brad started with fingerstyle guitar and now comes around full swing with exciting solo performances featuring his rich vocals and dazzling acoustic fretboard work. For Brad it is a return to a first love, and is a joy both to play and hear.
He hasn't stopped working as a gunslinger either, as his work with Donna Jose and the Side Effects will attest - he knows how to work a Fender. Come out and hear how good twang can be!
